'Sonic the Hedgehog' Trailer Released

Iconic SEGA video game character, Sonic the Hedgehog, has officially hit live-action move status whether fans like it or not. The first trailer for the new “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie has arrived after being teased back in January by the "Sonic the Hedgehog" Twitter account.

The trailer features the classic, blue hedgehog (Ben Schwartz) teaming up with a local sheriff to take down longtime nemesis, Doctor "Eggman" Robotnik (Jim Carrey).

The teaser doesn’t give away too many plot points, but as far as we can see, it’s up to Sonic and the friends he makes along the way to save the planet from an all-encompassing electricity outage. The trailer is complete with sassy quips from Sonic as well as a side of James Marsden that we didn't quite see from his “Westworld” or “Enchanted" appearances.

Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise” plays in the background as Sonic zooms around through forests and busy streets, flipping cars and leaving a trail of blue bristles in his tracks. Sheriff Tom Wachowski (Marsden), takes Sonic under his wing in an effort to keep the wrath of Jim Carrey’s mustachioed character at bay.

The excitement of longtime SEGA fans as well as the curiosity of indifferent trailer-watchers has tons of people anxious to get to theaters to see the finished product when it hits theaters on November 8th.
