Family Perfectly Recreates Journey's 'Separate Ways' Video Shot-For-Shot

A perfect quarantine activity

Journey’s classic video for their 1983 hit “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” has gone down in history as one of the more, shall we say, “recognizable” visuals of the MTV-actually-playing-music-videos era. It’s the poses, the dramatic camera angles, and... the hair. Oh, that hair.

The Heller family of Maple Valley, WA are apparently big fans of the song (OK, maybe mostly Mom and Dad) and decided to remake the video while they're stuck in quarantine.

Dad Steven, who has a background in video editing, admits it was all mom Jana's idea, but he and the kids quickly got into character for the shoot.

In an interview with TODAY Heller said, "We wanted to be able to 10 years from now, say, ‘remember when we were stuck in our home and we did this crazy thing and it was so much fun?'"

Watch the original video in all it's '80s glory below and while you're in the mood, check out this professional shot-by-shot video that the band Escort performed for their track, "Outta My Head."
